For over 40 years, Alumni Memorial Hall has been a cherished hub of intellectual, cultural, and social engagement for McMaster University’s faculty, staff, and alumni. This beautifully appointed heritage venue offers timeless charm, making it ideal for a wide range of events, from speaking engagements and formal receptions to meetings and celebratory milestones.
Spaces include the Great Hall, with a historic ambiance adding sophistication to any occasion, and the versatile West Room, perfectly suited for board meetings, smaller gatherings, or as a space to complement events in the Great Hall. During spring and summer guests can also enjoy the outdoor balcony, which includes seating for 36.

The Great Hall is not equipped with an AV system. We highly recommend clients opt into our Basic AV Package? Our event team will be happy to work with you should you wish to customize this package to suit your event needs and discuss pricing and options.

Scroll down to browse our pre-set floorplans which ensure space for your guests to mingle comfortably. Choose between banquet rounds of 8 guests (total seating for 72) or harvest-style tables that can accommodate 6-8 guests (7 available, total seating for 56).
Once you have confirmed your booking in Alumni Memorial Hall you will be introduced to the talented Buttery Team that will help your finalize your menu. Catering Menus are available for review online.

Weeknight events after 6:00pm require a $750 minimum F&B spend. Weekend events require a $2,000 F&B minimum.
Room rental includes 4 hours of space use and service. Additional labour charges apply to bookings exceeding 4 hours. These charges are calculated on an hourly basis ($40/hour) and depend on the number of staff required.
Rates are valid from September 2, 2025, to August 31, 2026.

Parking is available on campus for members and guests of Alumni Memorial Hall. The cost for parking on weekdays is $8.00 per hour, $20 maximum. On weekends and after 4:00 pm on weekdays, the cost is $8.00 per vehicle. Weekends and statutory holidays and after 4:00 pm on weekdays the cost is $8 per vehicle.
Alumni Memorial Hall reserves the right to control all functions held on its premises and to discontinue bar services at any time. Alumni Memorial Hall reserves the right to ask any patron to leave Alumni Memorial Hall’s premises at any time. The event’s host or convenor is responsible for the conduct of their guests during all functions. Children must not be left unattended.
What is SOCAN? SOCAN licences give you the freedom to play any music you want in your business, legally, ethically, and easily. This fee will be applied to all events that include music. For more information, visit SOCAN’s web site.
Re:Sound is the Canadian not-for-profit music licensing company dedicated to obtaining fair compensation for artists and record companies for their performance rights. On behalf of its members, representing thousands of artists and record companies for their performance rights, Re:Sound licenses recorded music for public performance, broadcast and new media. This fee will be applied to all events that include music.
